Re: Dorothy R.
Dear Brian,
I am writing to thank you and your entire staff for making the last three years of my mother’s life sweet and comfortable.
The first person I met at Garden Villas was Dustin McClintock. I strongly suggest you do everything possible to keep Dustin in your employment for many, many years. He is such a gentleman. Dustin is even-tempered and patient. Mom had long-term care insurance. Vicky and Justin jumped through every “hoop” the insurance company put up, and we collected to the full extent of the policy. Dustin never got annoyed when Mom called saying she hadn’t received her insurance check. Mom is resting happily knowing Dustin submitted her final bill promptly, and we were reimbursed by the insurance company.
After Dustin showed me around and we and Mom (we never made a decision without her) decided Mom should move to Garden Villas, we worked with Vicky Busso for all the nitty-gritty entry stuff. Vicky was a pleasure then and continued to be a pleasure for the entire time Mom lived at Garden Villas. Her management style is direct but kind. She listens!! And, as Mom declined, Vicky worked with us to make sure Mom was getting the services she needed.
Mom was in pretty bad shape when she came to you in 2016. When I told Vickie that Mom was confusing her medications and needed medication management, Vicky said that Mom would be fine once we got those meds under control. Sure enough, Mom did a complete turn-around and had a lovely 3 years living at Garden Villas. My husband and I came to dinner occasionally. The food was always great and your servers were always sweet. Chef John Jackson is a “true gem.” When we needed to have Mom’s 99th birthday at Garden Villas because she was too frail to take out of the building, Chef John prepared two gorgeous festive meals. We should have had all of her birthday parties there! It was such a warm and lovely environment. And, of course, the food was delicious.
Mom made friends with all the LIMA’s who brought her meds. All of them were cheerful and brightened the room when they came in. We enjoyed getting to see them. Ariel was especially loving and kind during those final days and hours. Julie A, the nurse, was great. Sometimes she had to get ‘tough’ with requirements for Mom’s safety, but she worked with us to help Mom accept her limitations and make accommodations for them. We so greatly appreciated her professional and steady manner. Paula, Kathleen and Judy at the front desk could not have been more efficient and friendly. They were always so helpful when we called. John, Mom loved all the parties you planned. The parties gave her something to look forward to and to dress-up for, and she especially loved Mother’s Day, Labor Day and July 4th. It meant so much to her for us to come and meet her lovely friends and their families. And, she took ownership of those parties as if she was giving them herself. I think you succeeded in your goal of giving your residents a sense of “ownership.” What a great accomplishment! Mom also loved the Rabbi. I don’t know if he works for you or the Jewish Community. All I know is that my very non-religious Mother seemed to get spiritual solace from him and it was greatly appreciated.
It isn’t easy getting to be very old. Dorothy’s body declined but her mind was perfect until the last two days of her life. That perfect mind knew what she wanted, and was quite capable of keeping us apprised of her care at Garden Villas and keeping you guys on your toes. You and your entire staff did a great job. When people ask me about Garden Villas, I tell them “It is a culture of kindness.” That is our lasting impression of the service and care you gave my mom. In Judaism we having a blessing that I want to bestow on you and your staff: “May you go from Strength to Strength.”
With our deepest gratitude
Fran

Thank you to the staff of Garden Villas for making my father’s transition into your community so simple. Moving him during a pandemic wasn’t ideal, but your community welcomed him, after a short quarantine, and he immediately felt at home.
Our family is so grateful to everyone on staff for their efforts and for going to work. While it’s so difficult to only see my dad from his balcony, I know that you are there for him.
He’s already so much healthier and happier than he was prior to moving. I am thankful every day that he is living at Garden Villas.
Take care of yourselves and I look forward to meeting you all soon.
Randi S.

“When we first walked into Garden Villas, we were struck by an immediate feeling of warmth, home, and family – we moved in! When my husband needed more care he went right next door to Delmar Gardens West and eventually had hospice. We could be together as much as we wanted. I’ve lived here now for 11 years and I still get that same warmth of home and family.”

We just lost Mom. She lived at Garden Villas West or three (3) years, and she loved everything about the place. They are the most compassionate folks around, and they treated Mom and this crazy family with kindness and respect.
Our family is grateful💕

“Moving into Garden Villas was perfect because my husband needed more care and the nursing center was just a golf cart ride away. Our children were equally happy because I was able to still be with my husband in one place.”

Dear Brian:
Good entertainment, good food, good friends and topped off with a fabulous fireworks display, one could not ask for anything more! Yesterday afternoon and evening was one of the best days I’ve had in a very long time. The opportunity to visit with you,Vicky, Kathleen, Mary, Bill, Alice, Heather, Victor…the list goes on and on, was a pleasure indeed but it brought with it a bit of sadness. I haven’t fully realized just how wonderful the people and atmosphere at Garden Villas West was until I moved away and came back to visit.
Brian, mere words cannot describe my gratitude for your generous invitation. As we get Betty settled into the Memory Care Unit and I find more time to devote to social activities, at the top of my list will be periodic visits to Garden Villas West to keep the ties with all of the wonderful friends I have there in good repair. If something should happen to Betty such that she is no longer here, I will seriously consider moving back to Garden Villas West, such is my affection for all of you!
Thanks, again, Brian and please express my best wishes to all at Garden Villas West. The staff and residents there all embody the spirit of a family, the Delmar Gardens Family and that’s what makes it so special. Having had the pleasure of meeting them several years ago, I think I can safely say that Henry and Barbara smile when they look down and see your efforts at extending the Delmar Gardens Family t all who are fortunate enough to take up residence on South Outer 40 Road.
God bless you and all of your wonderful staff. Till later, then.
Gratefully yours,
Gene S.

Dear Brian,
Thank you for the lovely fall harvest luncheon with John sharing his culinary skills. Please convey my compliments to John and all that made the experience delightful. The set-up and decor, the kitchen staff and servers. It takes a village to accomplish success.
Everything was beautiful to the eyes and delicious to the taste buds. It was a treat for me to have been included and invited.

I want to tell all of you how always amazed I am with each celebration party that I’ve enjoyed as a guest!
(makes me ready for residence in the future!) Everything is decorated with an awesome touch…Linda! and the food is delicious. The entertainment was so fun for “Cinco” – the couple was great and so friendly to include us. As always, the best hospitality ever!
Thank you for letting me enjoy it all!
Love and appreciation,
Carol J.

Hi Brian,
I don’t know if you knew that I set up a virtual doctor appointment for my Mom yesterday, and had it in room 138 on my phone.
I cannot tell you how pleased I was that our Nurse, Bonnie was able to join us. Not only did she bring my Mom to the appointment and take her back to her apartment, but she stayed with us, took my Mom’s vitals, spoke to the doctor on my phone with information from her files. We were able to resolve much more than I could have if I had been there by myself.
Bonnie has been responding to me quickly when I have a question or comment, and it is comforting that she displays an effort to do an outstanding job.
I don’t want to take these things for granted, so I wanted to make sure you knew of the good work she is doing.
Thank you.
Vicky S.

Anne – WOW ! I received a letter from Christ Church stating that Garden Villas made a memorial contribution in memory of Wanda. I am simply stunned by the generosity and kindness demonstrated by Garden Villas. Never, in my wildest imagination, could I have dreamed that there was a facility filled with staff who are as caring and skilled as those at Garden Villas. Every person has been absolutely amazing. There are no words that could possibly express my thanks enough.
Love, Mindy and family
