Testimonials

Dear Mr. Grossberg,

The decision to place my mother in a nursing home was a difficult one, but she had developed dementia and was falling on the stairs, so her home was no longer safe for her. As her daughter and live-in caretaker for over 20 years, I was very concerned about the kind of care she would receive in a facility. I was convinced that no one could provide the level of care that I could give my mother.

We looked at every nursing facility in Kansas City that accepted Medicaid. We had decided on the state facility, but we had to go on a waiting list. In the meantime, we chose to place her in Delmar Gardens of Overland Park.

The sunlight streaming into the open areas and the bright colors were great since my mother suffered from Macular Degeneration. However, Mom became depressed at not being at her home so the Social Worker and her Doctor, worked together to get her on a medication to help ease her anxiety. The staff made her she went to all the activities, Mom especially loved the musical programs, and they always said hello to her in the hall. Slowly, Mom’s mental health improved.

I got to know the nurses, aides and staff and we soon fell into a routine. Her nurse would call me if she had low sugar episodes, fell or had any other problems. I visited regularly and still took part in her care. The quarterly assessment gave me a chance to voice any concerns or get advice on how to handle certain situations. I felt this was a very important tool in Mom’s care and I was thankful that the facility accepted my input.

The entire staff of this facility is exceptional. They really care for each of their residents, whether they have means or are on Medicaid. I could not have placed my Mom  in any better hands. From the people who clean the rooms, do the laundry, prepare the meals, handle maintenance, work in the beauty shop, plan the activities, work in the office, nurses, social workers and volunteers, I say “Thank you.” I can never repay them for all their hard work, compassion and dedication to the residents.

This is a wonderful facility and I would recommend it to anyone.

Sincerely,

Brenda

Well, I just want to thank you both. Florence is thriving at Delmar Gardens. Attached are a couple of photos we took recently. You are welcome to use them in your marketing materials, if you like. You can see in Mom’s face that she is doing well in your care.

Thanks again for all you’re doing for Florence and all the seniors. It’s a very special community you’ve built there.

Gratefully,

Mindi
